TAMPA – The Minnesota Wild joined the Tampa Bay Lightning as one of the first NHL teams to give their fans an augmented reality experience. As part of the excitement surrounding the Wild’s participation in the Stanley Cup playoffs, they partnered with VidPic AR – a local Tampa Bay company – to bring a “Wild” poster to life.

The poster is included in the Wild’s “Fan Survival Kit”, and on display in the tunnel entrance to the Xcel Energy Center in St. Paul. Fans who view the poster with the VidPic AR app, will be treated to the latest hype video from the Wild. And, an added bonus includes a reward, stored in the VidPic AR app, for free shipping on merchandise from the Wild’s online store.

To access the augmented reality experience, fans can download VidPic AR from either the App Store or Google Play. The experience also works on laptop or desktop computers by using the app on your phone to view the poster image.

“A growing number of sports, entertainment and retail organizations are looking to augmented reality as a new way to engage fans and consumers”, said Ron Rudderman, CEO of VidPic AR. “We’re excited to work with the Wild to bring both a new experience, and a reward to their fans”.
